Let's Talk... Candles! And what makes a good one...

We're all on the lookout for the perfect, cosy go-to candle but sometimes it's really hard to tell what is actually the best option for us when there are sooo many out there.

Especially when the big corporations like to use words such as "Natural" and "Vegan" as buzzwords to grab your attention but then don't meet expectations. Did you know that paraffin wax is technically both of these things but terrible for you and the planet? Talk about misleading!

So let's talk about how to tell if a candle is actually a *good* candle...

Firstly, we would always recommend a CocoSoy wax for a few reasons including its sustainability, its clean burn and how long they last compared to the standard paraffin candles that you see dotted around the supermarkets.

CocoSoy wax is made from a blend of coconut and soybean oil which are both are both renewable and sustainable resources. The process of extracting the oil from coconuts and soy produces considerably less harmful to the planet than your standard paraffin candles which are derived from petroleum.

Both coconuts and soy beans are cold-pressed separately and then hydrogenated before being filtered and cleaned, giving you 100% natural, and fully biodegradable wax. They're then mixed together with essential oils to create those gorgeous smelling candles that we know and love.

We source our handmade Cocosoy wax candles from a small, local business just down the road in Bradford-upon Avon, so between the cold-press process and the candles being hand poured in small, careful batches our CocoSoy wax candles have a small carbon footprint too.

Speaking of which, did you know that your standard paraffin wax candles are known to release toxins into the air when burned?

Specifically, the same kind of fumes you get from petrol as paraffin is derived from petroleum and is a byproduct during the crude oil process.

This can cause a whole host of respiratory problems like asthma and other long term health issues including lung cancer. Not exactly what you're looking for when you light up a candle to relax!

As a vegetable based wax, CocoSoy definitely doesn't have any of those harmful chemicals and is completely safe to use.

So you can breathe easy knowing that your candle is not only better for the environment but a million times better for your health too.

Now let's talk about the burning experience itself. CocoSoy wax candles not only burn much cleaner but also for much, much longer than paraffin wax candles.

Why? Well, they have a lower melting point, which means they burn at a cooler temperature so the scent is released more slowly and evenly, giving you a more consistent and longer-lasting fragrance experience.

This slow release gives you a much stronger scent than paraffin ones too and that's exactly what you want when burning a beautifully fresh spring candle.

Overall, all natural cocosoy wax candles are the perfect choice for anyone who wants to enjoy a beautiful smelling and eco-friendly candle while also taking care of their health. They're long-lasting, clean-burning, and provide a more intense scent experience - what's not to love?
