Wander down The Ginnel with me...

You can find our brick and mortar shop nestled away in Devizes' hidden gem, The Ginnel, which is traditionally a northern word for a small alleyway! Although it is smack bang in the middle of the town, just off of the Market Place, we really have to show people we're here so we all take great pride in looking after it; adorning it with plants and flowers, bunting and lights at various points throughout the year.

It is a real show stopper, and we regularly have people coming down to admire before taking photos and telling us how inviting it looked so they just HAD to come down for a proper look.

We share our lovely Ginnel with six fellow, award winning small, independent businesses. Allow me to introduce you to our friends and neighbours as we go on a virtual wander down The Ginnel...

1. TEA INC.

Alan and Ramona, owners of Tea Inc, are our longest standing Ginnelites, who will soon be celebrating 8 years in business. They've nailed the quirky, cosy tea room thing; they may be small but they really are mighty!

Not just your average cafe, they boast a menu of over 80 sustainably-sourced loose leaf teas including many exclusive blends, organic and seasonal teas too. I'm not a huge tea drinker but I'm partial to their iced offerings in the summer - a 'Purple Rain' with all the trimmings is always welcome on a scorcher of a day.  More of a coffee lover like me? I can vouch for their delicious, proper coffee too, usually complete with fancy foamy-milk artwork to make it extra special.

Obviously you can get stuck into some amazing locally made cakes and scones too - I mean, what kind of cafe doesn't have cake?! And they also have a gift shop full of teas to take home, caddies and other tea paraphernalia. A tea-lovers delight!

Visit with your family or friends, with your dog or just come alone for some solitude or a chat - the TEAm really are a great bunch.

Not local? No problem - you can visit their website and shop their range of teas and gifts online!

2. THE PLASMA ROOM

Mel opened The Plasma Room in December 2020. She wanted to provide a more bespoke, individual service to clients who have specific skin issues, offering a mixture of aesthetic treatments and a personal, workable treatment plan.

The aim is to get you feeling confident without going down the route of plastic surgery, which is hugely expensive and can be a lottery when choosing a surgeon.

Mel has introduced more and more treatments, including laser hair removal (dream!) and simpler ones such as nails, and now has a small team of lovely, bubbly girls who work alongside her in the clinic. We hear nothing but great things about the results from these guys!

3. HALO BESPOKE HAIR STUDIO

Halo is the latest addition to The Ginnel! We welcomed them back in April this year, but we've known one of them for a few years now. Laura was already working in The Ginnel, but when the previous salon owner moved on to pastures new, she and her friend Katie made the very exciting decision to create their very own salon of dreams!

The salon has had a top to bottom face lift - when the work was going on I couldn't believe how much lighter and brighter they'd made it. It really looks amazing; a beautiful, relaxed environment, where clients can come to unwind, feel pampered and leave feeling great about themselves.

The girls specialise in freehand techniques, bayalage and transitioning to grey but cover all of the usual treatments and services you'd find in an independent hair studio.

Laura and Katie were quick to sign up to become a member of the Green Salon Collective, who help salons become more sustainable and eco-friendly by recycling as much of their waste as possible. All hair is sent to make hair booms, which are cuttings of any length or colour, tightly packed into cotton or nylon tubes. When placed into either water or the shores of beaches, these booms will stop oil from spreading.  Any hair that doesn't make it to the booms gets sent to farmers and gardeners and any metals are also fully recycled.

4. SUSAN WILLOW FABRIC & HABERDASHERY

Susan Willow started their journey in the local indoor market and moved to their shop in The Ginnel in late 2021. You'll see either Susan or her husband in the shop, so it's a proper little family affair!

Selling a range of quality fabrics and haberdashery products, their little shop is a crafters delight with a small but perfectly curated selection to cover all bases for your crafty sewing and fabric projects; from needles to buttons and bias binding to interfacing.

Not local? Not a problem at all - you can still support them via their online shop and follow their journey on social media.

5. LITTLE B'S

Ah yes, our little sister biz! I own and run Little B's alongside Beeze's.

Originally opened in the bottom of Beeze's back in February 2020, there was much demand from the local community for more gifts, and especially clothing, for babies and children. It's a little harder to source handmade for little ones due to the nature of health and safety as well as clothing production to a large scale, so the focus in Little B's is on ethical and environmentally aware production.

In August 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, we decided to take the plunge and move Little B's into its very own shop - which just happens to be next door to Beeze's in The Ginnel!
Selling a huge range of organic cotton clothing, wooden and sustainable toys, books, crafts and accessories, we've got you covered for gifts for little ones up to age 8.

You'll generally see the lovely Abbie and Sam in the shop, with me pottering about between the two!
